of George OSBORNE of Bristol,
my 4xGGF (n. c1760-1816) = Ann
ROGERS at Bristol St George on 1 Apr 1782 and by whom he had
at least 2 children. He then may have married Ann EVANS (the d/o George & Ann
EVANS of Bristol) on 1 May 1784 and had a further 13 children. While records
open the possibility of an early death for Ann ROGERS and a remarriage to Ann
EVANS, this is not supported by a burial for the first Ann. Birth records for
children are also consequent, which do not suggest two couples of the same
name in the Bristol area after 1784. The strongest possible suggestion that
the 2nd marriage may be unrelated is the grandson (by son Dennis
OSBORNE) named Dennis Rogers OSBORNE, indicating his grandmother
was Ann ROGERS, i.e. all 15 children may be to the same couple, George
OSBORNE & Ann ROGERS, and that Ann ROGERS in my 4xGGM. Dennis, the father
of Dennis Roger OSBORNE, was born after the time Ann ROGERS could have died
and George perhaps remarried Ann EVANS. This issue remains unresolved as the
mother's maiden name is not given for the children's baptisms, but the
balance of probabilities suggests Ann ROGERS survived without any
post-marriage indications for the couple George OSBORNE & Ann EVANS. The
synopsis below reflects a single mother for all children. George's origins
are not clear; however, records rule out my 4xGGF as the George OSBORNE of
Siston, Gloucestershire (s/o Daniel OSBORNE & Hannah GAY) who was
baptised, lived, married, had children and died all in Siston. My 4xGGF may
have had Siston origins as the only George OSBORNE supported by records for
c1760 is the s/o John OSBOURN (sic) & his wife Rose baptised 1759 in
Siston. There are no Bristol records. George's burial record in 1816 provides
the c1760 year of birth. This possible line is supported if family tradition
provides for George & Ann's first son's name, John. The
children of George OSBORNE & Ann ROGERS (all baptised Bristol) are: 1.
Sarah OSBORNE (c1783). As father is not given,
there are 3 possible marriage in the 1806-1808 period to John POOL, Edward
