Two potential sons of MENNIS are identified in the early C19th:

• Michael MENNIS (c1800) of Moreagh = Mary MAHONEY before 1824. Children include:

  • Michael MENNIS (c1825) = Mary BARRY in 1853 and was resident as father-in-law at Reenascreena North in 1901 & 1911. Children, being on girls, suggest why WHITE inherited the farm at Reenascreena through daughter Ellen:

    • Mary Ann MENNIS (1866);

    • Ellen MENNIS (1870-1909) = James WHITE in 1899;

    • Hanora MENNIS (1871);

  • Denis MENNIS of Moreagh (1830-82) = Ellen CROWLEY in 1830 Dunmanway. Children:

    • Mary Anne MENNIS (1858-1943);

    • Julia MENNIS (1860-1938);

    • James MENNIS (1862);

    • Ellen MENNIS (1863-1869);

    • Rev. Michael MENNIS (1865-1937) of Moreagh. Died in Louisville, Kentucky, USA;

    • John MENNIS (1867-1906). Unmarried and living in House 5 Moreagh in 1901;

    • Rev. Cornelius MENNIS (1868) arrived in New York in 1889 and was living in Brooklyn in 1910 & 1916;

    • Jeremiah MENNIS (1877-1922), known as Jerome MENNIS on both 1901 & 1911 census returns;

  • Ellen MENNIS (1833) = Michael WALSH in 1854 Dunmanway;

  • Honora MENNIS (1835) = Michael DINEEN in 1863 Dunmanway;

  • Mary MENNIS (1839);

  • John MENNIS (1844);

• John MENNIS (bef 1814 – 1901/11) = Cate/Catherine COLLINS in 1838 (witness: “Jes” MENNIS). Children born in Reenascreena South:

  • Catherine MENNIS (1839) – sponsor: Michael MENNIS;

  • James MENNIS (1841-1891/1901) = Hanoria LEARY (1866-1938) in 1885 Clonakilty. Children:

    • Catherine MENNIS (1887);

    • Michael John MENNIS (1888) – possibly serving in the British military and in Hong Kong in 1911;

    • John MENNIS (1890);

  • Mary MENNIS (1843-before 1853);

  • John MENNIS (1846) – sponsor: Michael MENNIS;

  • Ellen MINNIS (1848-1926) of Reenascreena (sponsor – Catherine MENNIS) = Denis O'NEILL of Reenroe in 1872 Rosscarbery (witness: Joanne (Johanna) MENNIS);

  • Michael MENNIS (1851) – sponsor: James MENNIS;

  • Mary MENNIS (1853) = John CROWLEY in 1876 Rosscarbery (witness: Joanne MENNIS);

  • Honora MENNIS (1854) married in 1879 Clonakilty to an unknown spouse;

  • Johanna MENNIS (1857)

  • Julia MENNIS (1859) – sponsor: Mary MENNIS. She married in 1890 Clonakilty to an unknown spouse;
