Discuss on my Bristol Branches Facebook page

Distribution of the family name in 1881

Seeking ancestry of our 6xGGPs Ann LEGG = Stephen MONKS probably in 1733 at Stapleton.

Ann LEGG (c. 9.12.1711 St P&J, Bristol) is probably the first child of Thomas LEGG (1690, s/o Thomas LEGG & Mary) & wife unknown who married at St P&J in 1710.

Children of Thomas LEGG & Mary at St P&J (possibly the marriage of Thomas LEGGE (possibly s/o George LEGG c. 1662 at King's Stanley, GLS) & Mary GODDARD on 9.10.1682 at Salisbury St Thomas, Wiltshire):

       Henry LEGG (1684);

       Elizabeth LEGG (1686) possibly = Charles WAKEFIELD on 21.4.1701 at King's Stanley;

       William LEGG (1687) = wife unknown in 1708 at St P&J;

       John LEGG (1689) possibly = Anne EDWARDS at Bristol St Augustine-the-Less on 28.6.1708. Children recorded in Henbury, NW Bristol;

o   Mary LEGG (1710);

o   William LEGG (1711);

o   John LEGG (1716);

       Thomas LEGG (1690), initial wife unknown, but later wife Mary CLEMENT/CLEMMENT m. 19.11.1721 St Augustine. Children include;

o   Dorcas LEGG (1734);

o   Charles LEGG (1728);

Later Bristol area LEGGs married into my other local branches:

       Mary LEGG (1780 = Joseph MONKS (1776) in 1798;

       Mary Jane LEGG (1863) = George BATEMAN (1859) in 1894;
