The BALDOCK Family of Plumtree, Nottinghamshire

The family name comes from the town of Baldock in Hertfordshire (map below) which was founded by the Knights Templar in the C12th, and named after the Old French for Baghdad.

John BALDOCK (1554-1617) & Isabella SHEILAY possibly SHELLEY (1553-1622) both of Plumtree (my 10xGGPs) married on 4 Dec 1574 and had the following children at Plumtree:

· Elizabeth BALDOCK (1575);

· John BALDOCK (1576);

· Richard BALDOCK (1580-1644);

· Agnes BALDOCK (1582);

· Robert BALDOCK (1584);

· William BALDOCK (1589);

Richard BALDOCK (1580-1644) & Ann SEYWELL or SEWELL (1590-1640) both of Plumtree (my 9xGGPs) married 27 Nov 1611 and had the following children at Plumtree:

· Thomas BALDOCK (1612);

· John BALDOCK (1614-78);

· Anthony BALDOCK (1614-78);

· Elnar BALDOCK (1616);

· Frances BALDOCK (1618);

· Mary BALDOCK (1620);

· Richard BALDOCK (1621);

· William BALDOCK (1624);

· Hastings BALDOCK (1627);

· Gilbert BALDOCK (1630);

· Elizabeth BALDOCK (1633);

· Isabel BALDOCK (1633-33);

John BALDOCK (1614-78) = (1) Anne HARVEY (d. by 1641) on 31 Jan 1632 Plumtree and had 5 children; Then = (2) Ursula HUBBARD (1619-74) all of Plumtree (my 8xGGPs) married at Colston Bassett, Nottinghamshire on 7 May 1642. Their children at Plumtree were:

· John BALDOCK (1633);

· Bridget BALDOCK (1635);

· John BALDOCK (1638);

· Agnes BALDOCK (1640);

· Frances BALDOCK (1642);

· John BALDOCK (1644-1720) m. Mary HORNBUCKLE, my 7xGGPs;

· Mary BALDOCK (1646);

· Isabella BALDOCK (1649);

· Thomas BALDOCK (1651-71);

· Richard BALDOCK (1655-1706) = Mary LINSDALE;

o John BALDOCK (1688);

o Joseph BALDOCK (1689) = Mary PEARSON on 24 Dec 1727 Gotham, NTT. Children included:

§ Mary BALDOCK (1707 Plumtree) = Henry DEAN on 28 Mar 1733 Plumtree;

o Hannah BALDOCK (1692);

o Richard BALDOCK (1694);

· Joseph BALDOCK (1657);

· Hastings BALDOCK (1660);

John BALDOCK (1644-1720) & Mary HORNBUCKLE (my 7xGGPs) = 9 Dec 1685 at Plumtree, Nottinghamshire and had the following Plumtree children:

· John BALDOCK (1686-1733);

· Walter BALDOCK (1688);

· Joseph BALDOCK (1690;

· Mary BALDOCK (1693) = Stephen BUTTERY 28 Apr 1712, Plumtree;

· William BALDOCK (1701);

· Elizabeth BALDOCK (1701-37) married Thomas BLATHERWICK, my 6xGGPs.
