The family name
possible comes from Wigfield (now a farm) near Barnsley, S. Yorks. The
name has a clear Nottinghamshire area focus
Head of tree is William WIGFIELD & Jane BRITTLE, who married 14.5.1732 at Nottingham, St. Nicholas, my 6xGGPs. William may be the 1701 christening at Wentworth in Yorkshire, s/o George WIGFIELD, who married Elizabeth HOWDEN there in 1725 (the only references on IGI). Children at Gedling:
