Will of Edward MAYNARD, yeoman
of Corston 1652 proved PCC;
Iif this is the original Edward, then Joan SMYTHE is not the
widow who married William BATMAN. Possible s/o of Edward (death
date to be confirmed). Edward and Joan SMYTHE had children at
Corston 1573-83 & d. 1617.
The Maynard exchequer deponent in 1588 was
William.
Somerset Subsidy Rolls; 1597-98 Wm MAYNERD at North Stoke.
Gloucs. Will of Richard GUNNING of Cold Ashton,
Bitton etc., d. 1559 of Bitton mentioned Wm MAYNERD of North
Stoke as one of his debtors.
William MAYNARD who bought the copyhold of
Stanton Prior Manor from Prior of Bath in 1533 reportedly gave
his age as 100 years in 1582, perhaps his father?
Probably also the man who witnessed will of John HOLBYN
of North Stoke 1548.
