Family name likely to originate from KYTE or KEAT(S), probably from Middle English, likely to denote a herdsman.
Current heads of tree are Thomas KYTE and his wife Mary KYTE (my 8xGGPs). Apparently bearing the same family name (they may have been cousins). Thomas was c. 7.5.1696 at Blackwell, Alfreton, (+ 26.4.1766 Blackwell) while Mary's origins are unclear (+12.10.1753 Blackwell). They were married 10.10.1722 at South Wingfield and is assumed to be her home village.Thomas & Mary KYTE had the following children (all at Blackwell): Anne KYTE (c. 12.6.1722), Francis KYTE (c.29.5.1725), Thomas KYTE (c. 27.11.1727), Dorothy KYTE (c. 17.4.1731), & Mary KYTE (c. 16.9.1733; + 24.6.1809). Mary KYTE married George KNIGHTON 7.1.1761 at Sutton in Ashfield, Notts (my 7xGGPs). |
