Current head of tree is a Mr. NIGHTON born c1705 around Blackwell, Alfreton (my 8xGGF). His wife is unknown, but a marriage is expected sometime before 1736.Mr. NIGHTON had at least two children in the Blackwell area: George KNIGHTON (n. c1736; d. 10.11.1809 Blackwell; & Joseph KNIGHTON (n. c1740). Son George KNIGHTON married Mary KYTE (my 7xGGPs) 7.1.1761 at Sutton in Ashfield, Notts. Their children were Thomas KNIGHTON (c. 23.4.1770), Sarah KNIGHTON (c. 24.2.1767), Richard KNIGHTON (c. 24.1.1762), & George KNIGHTON (c. 4.2.1764), all registered at Sutton in Ashfield. Their son George KNIGHTON married Elizabeth TAGG 10.10.1785 at Alfreton (my 6xGGPs). They had eight children of which the following are known: Hannah KNIGHTON (c. 2.1.1785; South Normanton, Derbys) & Joseph KNIGHTON (c. 2.9.1787, Blackwell). Joseph KNIGHTON married Ann BOSTOCK (my 5xGGPs). He died 30.5.1869 at Tupton, Alfreton. Their daughter Elizabeth KNIGHTON of Somercotes married Thomas HARRISON in 1823 (My 4xGGPs); after being widowed in the 1840's Elizabeth married Joseph ELLIS (c1848-51), and their combined families were living at Railway Ferry, Staveley, Derbys., in 1851. Another daughter of Joseph & Ann, Mary KNIGHTON married William JOHNSON in 1829. Sisters Elizabeth ELLIS & Mary JOHNSON were living together in Hasland, near Chesterfield in 1881.
