Seeking ancestry and relatives of the following family:Humphrey HOPKIN married Sarah (of unknown family) prior to 1738. Humphrey may be the one buried at Holy Trinity, Lenton on 2.2.1759 (NBI). Couple had the following children baptised at Lenton, Notts.: John HOPKIN (c. 14.11.1738; d. by 1742), John HOPKIN (c. 2.5.1742) and Sarah HOPKIN (c. 13.2.1749). Sarah HOPKIN of Lenton had a son William HOPKIN aka William BLATHERWICK (c. 1.1771). She then married as HOPKINS William BLATHERWICK, Carpenter of Bulcote on 31.3.1771 at Lenton. Note: There are references to a number of Humphrey HOPKINs in Lenton for over 120 years (c1720-1841+). It may be a popular regional name of indicative of a family connection. At Ilkeston in 1768 a bastardy case was brought against John HOPKIN of Lenton, Notts farmer by Elizabeth FULLWOOD single, with a female child. |
