Distribution of the family
name in 1881.Head of the known Birstall family tree is a Richard ALLATT or ALLOTT & Eunice MERCER (m. 1630). Richard would be born about or before 1612. Their known children include John ALLOTT (c1633), Elizabeth ALLOTT (c1636), Martha ALLOTT (c1639), Dorothy ALLOTT (c1641), a daughter (c1644), & Richard ALLOTT (c1647).
Around the same time a Robert ALLOTT (c1631) s/o Robert ALLOTT m. Susanna SENIOR at Leeds in 1655. There children include Mary ALLOTT (c1656; m. John SMITH), Elizabeth ALLOTT (c1660), James ALLOTT (c1664), Richard ALLOTT (c1667) & Hannah ALLOTT (c1670).
Both Richard & Robert would have been born before 1611/612 and may be brothers.

Mary NEWSOME d/o Samuel NEWSOME & Phoebe ALLOTT, above).

Birstall had a number of ALLOTT families (sometimes recorded as ALLATT) and the exact family tree is not always clear. Despite the number of Birstall records, there are incomplete periods due to illness of or the absence of an incumbent.
